How eBay fees work
eBay charges one final value fee when your item sells. It’s a percentage of the total amount of the sale, which includes shipping and sales tax, plus a per-order fee ($0.30 if the order is $10 or less, $0.40 if more). Most categories pay 13.6% on the first $7,500 and 2.35% above that. Books, movies and music pay 15.3%; trading cards and coins pay 13.25%; sneakers of $150 or more pay a flat 8% with no per-order fee. eBay handles payment processing, so there is no separate processing fee.
Example from eBay: a $400 Buy It Now item with free shipping and 6% tax is a $424 total sale. The fee is 13.6% × $424 + $0.40 = $58.06; with a $0.35 insertion fee the seller keeps $341.59.

FAQ
How much does eBay take from a sale in 2026?
For most categories eBay charges a final value fee of 13.6% of the total amount of the sale (up to $7,500 per item) plus a per-order fee of $0.30 for orders of $10 or less, or $0.40 for orders over $10. The total amount of the sale includes shipping and sales tax.
Does eBay charge fees on shipping and sales tax?
Yes. eBay calculates the final value fee on the total amount of the sale, which includes the item price, shipping, handling, sales tax and other buyer-paid charges.
Are eBay listings free?
Most sellers get 250 zero-insertion-fee listings per month. After that, eBay charges $0.35 per listing in most categories.
Are there extra eBay fees I should know about?
Possibly: a 1.65% international fee (unless you use eBay International Shipping), Promoted Listings ad fees if you opt in, and an extra 6% of the total sale if your account is Below Standard. A $20 fee applies to disputes you’re found responsible for.
Do eBay Store subscriptions lower these fees?
This calculator uses eBay’s standard (no Store) rates. Store subscribers may get different rates in some categories; check your Seller Hub.
